Artistic Style

What is your artistic style?

My artistic style is rooted in abstract expressionism and action painting. I emphasize spontaneous, gestural brushwork and bold use of colour to convey emotional intensity and raw energy. My work is non-figurative and non-representational, focusing on form, colour, texture, pattern, composition, and process. It invites viewers to engage on an emotional and intuitive level, exploring the dynamic interplay of elements to create visceral and expressive experiences.

What mediums do you use?

I primarily use acrylic paint for its versatility, allowing me to employ various techniques such as impasto, dripping, scraping, and sometimes collage. This medium dries quickly, enabling dynamic, spontaneous brushwork and facilitating the action painting techniques central to my artistic practice. Additionally, I incorporate modelling pastes, sand, plaster, wood, twigs, rope, and custom mixtures during my creative process to enhance texture and depth in my work.

What themes or subjects do you focus on in your paintings?

My paintings explore themes of emotional depth, human dynamics, and subjective experiences. I am particularly interested in the evocative power of colour and the expressive potential of abstract forms. Each piece is an exploration of how visual elements can provoke and convey emotions, inviting viewers to interpret and engage with the artwork on a personal level.

Are there specific techniques or processes you use that are unique to your work?

I utilize a range of techniques that contribute to the spontaneity and expressive nature of my art. These include dripping, scraping, impasto, and sometimes collage. Palette knives and my hands are integral tools that allow me to apply paint dynamically, creating textured layers and bold gestures. These methods not only enhance the visual impact of my work but also capture the immediacy and energy of my creative process.
